YouTube Private Messages Ending Soon
FYI, YouTube currently offers a private message system that allows viewers to send private messages to the owners of YouTube channels, but that service is going away in a month.
I received an email from YouTube today that stated:
Hi Loads of Bacon,
Because of minimal usage, we will no longer be supporting private messaging in Creator Studio.
The capability to send and receive private messages will end on July 9, 2018. All private messages will be deleted on July 9, 2018.
While you won’t be able to send or receive private messages in Creator Studio, you’ll still have these options for communicating with YouTube users.
The YouTube Team
I have stated before that the YouTube private message system was deprecated and not very functional. I’ve had several people communicate with me through this system, but I’ve also had numerous issues with the system. YouTube has not notified me of any my new private messages in months, though I’ve had several private messages sent to me.
One option for private messaging your favorite channels is Patreon. You have to have an account (which is free) in order to use their private message system, but you are not required to support channels in order to be able to message them.
For those interested in private messages here at The Reloaders Network, we have a great suite of communication options in software called Slack. Several of our authors are active in Slack. You can find out more in this post: Live Chat, Instant Messaging, or a Forum for The Reloaders Network?
Several of the authors also include contact info on their individual Author Page.
Loads of Bacon enjoys bullet casting, reloading, hunting, and most other outdoors activities. He began creating YouTube videos in 2017, and built The Reloaders Network in 2018. You can find more information, links to all of his online content, and opportunities to support him if so desired on his Author Page.
Everything is better with bacon!
