223 Remington | Hornady 62gr FMJ | IMR 8208 XBR
TinMan
This is the third video installment on my quest for an accurate plinking load for my AR15 using the budget 62gr FMJ bullets from Hornady. I was not able to find any concrete load data for a 16″ barrel using this bullet weight and powder combination. I had to use data from a 60gr bullet, which showed a maximum charge of 23.3gr. I went up to 23.2gr of powder and only achieved 2650 fps average velocity with absolutely no signs of pressure. I will continue investigating the potential accuracy nodes for this bullet and powder combination in my next upcoming video, along with re-testing my initial load that placed 4 shots into a 0.4″ group! Thank you for watching and stay tuned for more!
