Does fire-formed brass make a difference for accuracy?

Hey everyone! Have you ever wondered how much of a difference using fire formed brass will make for your reloads? I set out to find out just how much smaller our groups can get using once-fired brass in my Thompson Center Compass chambered in 5.56 NATO. Originally I intended to use a 75gr ELD bullet that has shown outstanding accuracy at both 100 and 200 yards, but when I loaded more up using 23.8gr of Varget my groups went from sub-MOA to 4″ at 200 yards. It wasn’t until I asked how this could happen that Charlie Irby asked if I had used a different bottle of powder. Eureka! Thanks for figuring that out, Charlie. The loads shot in this video were Hornady 50gr V-Max bullets over 23.6gr of Ramshot X-Terminator. I developed this load a few months ago and it has shown great accuracy in my rifle. Check out my author page here on TRN to see that video. Thanks for watching and stay tuned for the re-test using a 75gr Hornady ELD bullet!
