Testing CFE223 Temperature Sensitivity
John Fazer
Today I attempt to test CFE 223 temperature sensitivity. This video is to show that if you live in a area with large seasonal temperature swings(130 degrees between videos) you should not do load development in the winter. You can make seasonal ammunition, or use a temperature stable powder.
Starting temperature was 79 degrees Fahrenheit, final testing was at -51 degrees Fahrenheit. All the ammo used in testing was loaded in April 2019. I used 55 gr. Berry’s plated bullets with 27.8 gr. CFE 223, LC brass, CCI 450 primers, and an O.A.L. of 2.260 inches. Info is for educational purposes only. Do your own load ups. After video was posted found a loose gas block causing cycling issue.
