WCChapin | 223 Varmint Day – First Shots from the Howa 1500 Varminter
William C Chapin
Varmint rifles at the range, showing the first shots from the Howa 1500 Hogue Varminter that I featured in previous videos.
The rifle is a 1:12 twist .223 Remington 24″ Heavy Barrel Howa 1500 “Legacy” in a Hogue stock. It is a Legacy Sports International import that I believe is referred to as the HGR90202 Varminter.
The Leupold BR-36X-D scope is mounted in Leupold STD rings and bases.
This is not a Micro Action .223 – it is built on the “standard” Short Action with a magazine block. It has a non-locking two-position safety, which indicates that it predates the Howa Actuator Controlled Trigger (HACT) that was introduced in 2011.
