Two Women, Two Grizzlies – Remembering Bella Twin (4K)

A hunting ban on grizzlies in place for years now, it’s not often one is harvested in Alberta, aside from rare cases of self defense. But an exception is made in the case Indigenous people (so long as they’re treaty) so my wife took a grizzly up on his offer to be of use to her.

As some may be aware, back in 1953, a diminutive First Nations woman named Bella Twin harvested a grizzly so large it stayed at the top of the record books for quite some time. And she did so with just an old, beat-up, single-shot .22 rifle! In this video, I take a look back at Bella’s remarkable achievement and draw a few parallels between the two women which you may find interesting; things like a single-shot .243 rifle used and their similar backgrounds. First Nations women taught in their traditional ways are special; worth knowing and appreciating (and marrying, in my case!)
