Dear Reloader’s Network, Hello, and welcome to my first attempt at an article ever. My name is Norton’s Ammo Bench, and I thought that the best way to get me feet wet in this new arena was for me to introduce myself and give you an idea of what I’m about. My future posts will be […]
My journey to obtain a 308 has been a long difficult road. Back in the fall, I stumbled across Ocean374‘s deal on a Thompson Center Compass from Kentucky Gun Company. They had a smoking deal, along with a factory rebate, making this rifle $225 in my hands. I picked up a SWFA fixed 20 power […]
Hello to The Reloaders Network! BigE here! I thought I would try something different in my 308 target rifle. It started as a Savage 11VT that was found to be a little unsafe with the original barrel (short throat with rifling at 0.307″ would pop primers on factory loads occasionally and was almost always a […]
I have had a blast this past week with my Compass. This rifle is really impressing me. However it is a challenging rifle, and I like that. Two issues that I have dealt with are barrel harmonics and barrel heat. I have found during load development, a good group is almost always followed by a […]
New NOE mold break in run
I'm 19 years old and I have very little experience with rifles, or even hand guns at this point. I am aware of the idea of long-range shooting but truly don't know much beyond you shoot at a target that is far away. I am unfamiliar with cartridges, bullet weights and even brands of rifles. I was watching Public Enemies and see Melvin Pervice run the bolt on a Mauser 98 and think to myself, I want a bolt-action rifle. But what brand should I buy?
The Dirty Predator .308 RAP First Shots ChicowizeI’m a Rookie Reloader. I started in July 2018 with my first press being a Dillon XL650 and recently I’ve joined the community of casting my own projectiles and loving it as much as reloading. I am part of Georgia Shooting Connection Live Stream that airs every Friday at […]
Since the last post, I decided to try another brand of 168g bullets for my Compass in 308. Since this is a budget rifle, I am trying to stick to budget friendly bullets. The 168g Speer Match bullets were not meeting my expectations. For this week’s post, I picked up some 168g Hornady Match bullets, […]
Hey guys, I would like to start my contributions to The Reloaders Network by answering the common questions I get asked regarding the Uintah Precision UPR-10. It is a bolt action AR-10 upper, mine is chambered for 6.5 Creedmoor. The questions I am most often asked are; Why a bolt action AR-10? Why are they so expensive? Why would I buy this when I can buy a Ruger Precision rifle for the same price?
Today’s post continues off the last one. Click this link to see it. 308 T/C Compass 168g Hornady Match with IMR4895 and Reloder 15. I determined in the last post the charge of 43.3g of RL-15 was the one I wanted to explore a little more. This group produced a .774″ group at 100 yards […]
308 Satterlee load development
If you have ever shot IHMSA (International Handgun Metallic Silhouette Association) you might get a kick out of this video. It gives a pretty good depiction of the difference between a rookie and a veteran trying to shoot 500 yards from a body supported shooting position with a scoped pistol. Feel free to laugh we […]
High velocity cast bullets at 500 yards, 2605 fps 5 shot sub 2 MOA consecutive group.
Ruger Predator .308 Winchester
You're shooting what kind of ammo!!?? Today we talk about a few odd calibers/wildcats, why on earth you would consider buying/shooting them, and travel back in time.

Testing new 308 loads
2 weeks later I’ve made my decision after trying a few different methods/calibers & quantities. Results are....She’s a keeper but I see room for improvements from FA. Mainly being rubber lined.
Testing the 168gr Sierra Match King and 168gr Hornady Match BTHP in .308 Winchester with IMR 4895.
