A “Bullet Width” at the Top… | Target Camera View of IHMSA Big Bore Silhouette
William C Chapin
A round of IHMSA Big Bore Silhouette as seen through the target camera.
Mike was spotting for me with the Longshot Hawk Spotting Scope Camera. It has turned out to be a useful tool not only for spotting, but also for reviewing shots and calls!
I’ve been working on a setup using an iPad that allows capture of the target camera video and the shooter at the same time.
I’m shooting a Thompson/Center Contender with a 7-30 Waters “Hunter” barrel with the factory muzzle brake and an inexpensive import Weaver Classic 2-6 x 32 scope in Weaver Quad-Lock rings (rear offset) on an E. Arthur Brown base.
The load is the Speer .284″ 145 grain Boat Tail in Federal brass and 33.1 grains of IMR 4895 – the velocity is about 2,000 FPS.
I run about -15 MOA of shim on the rear scope ring and a 200 Meter zero. I dial elevation for each set of targets, and typically hold on the center of the target.
50 Meter Chickens: -5.5 MOA
100 Meter Pigs: -4.5 MOA
150 Meter Turkeys: -2.5. MOA
200 Meter Rams: Zero
Special thanks to Mike Hackett for the spotting and camera work!
