Dear Reloader’s Network, Hello, and welcome to my first attempt at an article ever. My name is Norton’s Ammo Bench, and I thought that the best way to get me feet wet in this new arena was for me to introduce myself and give you an idea of what I’m about. My future posts will be […]
After many requests, it's time to try out the sabots from EABCO. They allow you to shoot 22 caliber bullets in your 30 caliber rifle. These are a lot like the Remington Accelerator ammo that was sold in years past. We're going to test them in 300 Winchester Magnum.
In this video we complete the 5 powders (Vihtavuori N560, Alliant Reloder 23 and 26, and Hodgdon H4350 and H1000) we test to clone the Federal Gold Medal Match 190 SMK load in 300 Winchester Magnum. We study the velocity and barrel time graphs to pick our best options for out performing the factory ammunition. We evaluate our performance in quick load to see what loads might give us the best performance in our very finicky Thompson Center Compass. Winchester Brass and primers are used.
In this video we start our project trying to improve upon the performance of Federals Gold Mead Match 190 SMK load in 300 Winchester Magnum. We start our project with 5 different powders to develop velocity curves and evaluate our performance in QuickLOAD to see what loads might give us the best performance in our very finicky Thompson Center Compass.
300 Win Mag load development with the Thompson Center Compass using the 168 Berger Classic Hunter and Alliant Reloder 26. Up to this point find a Low SD load has proved very difficult. We implement the Scot Satterlee load development data that we generated previously and use that information to choose our test loads in our journey to find a great load for our Thompson Center Compass. This was a $200 rifle that we are going to test to see how accurate it can be with a very budget setup.
I am continuing down the path of load development with the 300 Winchester Magnum. In this video I go over some handloads that I have made, give them a try at the range, and look at the results. Today we give Hodgdon H4895 a try with Hornady 150 grain Interlock bullets.
In this video I update the Thompson Center Compass project chambered in 300 Win Mag. We load up Winchester Brass with the 220 gr SMK with Vihtavuori N560. We use our Satterlee load development style to develop our velocity curve.
In this video I update the Thompson Center Compass project chambered in 300 Win Mag. We load up Winchester Brass with the 225 gr HPBT with Hodgdon H4831SC. We use our Satterlee load development style to develop our velocity curve. Velocity data is used to evaluate this combination for future use.
300 Win Mag load development with the Thompson Center Compass using the 220 gr Nosler Custom Competition and Hodgdon H1000. Up to this point finding a Low SD load has proven very difficult. We implement the Scot Satterlee load development data that we generated previously and use that information to choose our test loads in […]
I am starting load development for the 300 Win Mag and I am not off to a good start. I talk about what I have determined and where I am going from here.
