This is the last of the preliminary work to be done prior to ‘Test 2’, ‘T-2’ I am kinda ‘winging’ my way through, trying to establish the methods we will use in the future so we don’t have to go through all this in future tests. This is the last piece of the puzzle to come together, selecting the moulds to start out with… Don’t be alarmed if you don’t see something you wanted here, there’s a lot of ground to cover and a lot of different styles of HP moulds to use in the future test. CharlieBrassStufferBorn in 1950…HS grad, […]

Getting all my stock updated with their Brinell Hardness re-tested and think I may have discovered a ‘free’ source of Tin we may have been overlooking. Part of these test will be using lead that most of us casters have on hand, using lead that is cheap and readily available to us. CharlieBrassStufferBorn in 1950…HS […]

A random test of a couple HP’s I had in stock. A practice run to get the testing and documentation down, also to try running the Chrony in front of the Test Tube for accurate speeds of each HP tested. The video is on the long side but there’s information I discuss here that is […]

The final fill and actual first test of a cast HP. It’s been a fun build…this summer we will see a lot of this test tube jig and also see some very interesting discoveries about casting and loading various Hollow Point Cast Projectiles. This is a test tube for testing cast HP projectiles. For years I’ve used a much smaller test pipe, a 10 foot 4″ PVC conduit and it’s been difficult in many aspects…now we build a test tube we can work with much easier. With the netting hanging down straight…let’s see where the brass will go. Can I add an actual catcher and keep the brass off the ground? Can I make it simple and quick to set up also…take a look and we’ll figure this bugger out… CharlieBrassStufferBorn in 1950…HS grad, some college, no degrees, served in the […]

I’m getting ready for another season of shooting but have to replace the net in the brass catcher, it’s a couple years old and BabyGirl has given it a fit too. I got a new idea from Joe Leadslinger and Grmps last year and thought I might give this a try. Give me your 2¢ […]

A 'Special Mail Call' from 'kyer', sending me goodies to build my cheek riser for the Savage MkII FVT, .22LR Target Rifle...Thank you Kyer, you're a real Pal!

My friend Harry, from the 'Backyard Inventor' channel, has sent me a mould that will revolutionize the way I cast and test those castings for hardness. A simple modification to a Lee 2 cavity mould that will take all the laborious work from measuring Brinnel Hardness.

These are tough times we are in these days boys ... stay ahead of the game, keep that head on a swivel & for goodness sakes . . . . 'WATCH THAT 6 !"

Are you using a hot plate to pre-heat your moulds? Do you have trouble keeping the single cavity or the double cavity moulds on the plate and not falling off the edge? They just don’t have enough weight in the mould itself to counterbalance the handles, and when you shove the mould far enough onto […]

Ok...PorchDogs...MrRevolverGuy has set up a .22 Challenge for this spring...let's get out in force, warm them barrels up and turn in a best effort...let's make this a fun challenge! Don't forget to bring your Gamesmanship to the porch...we are going to give that old Marine a run for his money Boys!

Using the Lyman 452423 Keith Hollow Point, 234 grains, 8BHN with 8.6 grains of Unique inside a Starline case primed with a CCI-LPP. This’ll get’er done boys! It exited the jug at 440FPS and came close to a 1 inch mushroom. CharlieBrassStufferBorn in 1950…HS grad, some college, no degrees, served in the US Marine Corps, […]

In this casting video I wanted to throw in something I’ve never attempted before. Trying to handle 3 single cavity moulds in one casting session and 2 of them Hollow Point moulds, but there’s a caveat to that…two different blends of lead in the pots, one an 11BHN general purpose pistol fodder lead, and the […]

This is the first time, to my knowledge…that a Chronograph has ever been used to clock the speed of a cast Hollow Point ‘EXITING’ a jug of water after expansion. The projectile entered the jug at 908 Feet Per Second and exited at 450 FPS. Now that may not seem significant to many of you […]
