Does Cast Bullet Hardness Change after Powder Coating? The practice of powder coating ammunition is quickly gaining momentum among the cast bullet community, and it’s not hard to see why.  Although tedious at times, powder coating bullets can reduce or even eliminate the need for conventional bullet lubes as well as further reduce barrel leading. […]

Eastwood’s Copper Vein Powder Coat

Eastwood ran a deal for free shipping over Valentines Day so I decided to stock up on my reliable colors and try out a new one called Copper Vein. My results were very pleasant, and I have to give a shout out to Reloader762 for verifying after I bought it that it was a good powder for bullet coating. This series is a long experiment testing powder coated cast lead hollow point bullets made from various alloys and fired at various velocities. In this video I go through the process of figuring out the Unique powder charge for the Keith SWC .44 Special, and then I load the bullets.

Powder Coating The Lee 457 450 Cast Bullet

The Lee 450 grain flat base bullet for the 45/70 was designed for those shooters who preferred a heavier bullet than the 405 grainer, but didn’t want to go all the way to the 500+ grain bullets. We casted this mold a week ago. But because of the minimal grease grooves, let’s powder coat these […]
