Tannerite – Making Boys Out of Men
This is just a fun video where we use two Ruger No. 1 rifles – one chambered in .243, the other in .45-120 – to explode some Tannerite. The video shows how the Tannerite is mixed and prepared, as well as showing how it detonates. 1/2 pound charges were used.
Tannerite is supposed to require in excess of 2,000 fps to detonate, but we tried it with the .45-120 anyway, even though it has a muzzle velocity of only 1,600 fps with its 535 grain cast bullet. Surprisingly, it detonates the charge as well – perhaps explained by the large amount of energy it delivers to target.
