Powder Coating an AR-15 Lower using WD-40 Method

This video shows how I powder coated an AR-15 lower that I made from an in-th-white <80% receiver. TheIdahoanShowIdaho was one of the last continental US states to be settled and, more so than some parts of the US, the culture of Idaho still retains a frontier spirit of self-reliance.  As host of TheIdahoanShow on […]

Does Cast Bullet Hardness Change after Powder Coating?

Does Cast Bullet Hardness Change after Powder Coating? The practice of powder coating ammunition is quickly gaining momentum among the cast bullet community, and it’s not hard to see why.  Although tedious at times, powder coating bullets can reduce or even eliminate the need for conventional bullet lubes as well as further reduce barrel leading. ‘SIZING CAST PROJECTILES’ . . . From Lube-Sizing to Lee push through to an Upside Down Press . . . “What?”

‘In the beginning…’ I started casting and ‘Lube-Sized’ my rifle/pistol projectiles…back then, the choice of lube was a hot topic and there were many heated exchanges about which lube would allow particular advantages. Some lubes required a ‘heater’ to be installed under the Sizer, some not. ‘Leading’ of the barrel was a problem when the […]

9mm Cast Bullet Range Testing with Alliant e3

I recently cast bullets for 9mm with the NOE HTC358-133-RN mold, powder coated them with Eastwood Lime Green, and sized them to .358". I am now working up a load with Alliant e3 powder, which is a challenge since there is no published load data for this or a similar bullet. I am shooting these from my Beretta 92S.

A Hard Discussion – Determining BHN for the Powder Coated Cast Lead Hollow Point Bullet Test

This is the seventh video in the Powder Coated Cast Lead Hollow Point Bullet Testing series, which is a long experiment testing powder coated cast lead hollow point bullets made from various alloys and fired at various velocities. In this video I have a little fun using various methods to measure the hardness of the lead alloys used to cast the bullets that will be used for this test.

Loading .44 Special for the Powder Coated Cast Lead Hollow Point Bullet Test

(The video was originally posted to YouTube on April 26, 2017.) I'm reloading the first .44 Special hollow point for the Powder Coated Cast Lead Hollow Point Bullet Testing series. This series is a long experiment testing powder coated cast lead hollow point bullets made from various alloys and fired at various velocities. In this video I go through the process of figuring out the Unique powder charge for the Keith SWC .44 Special, and then I load the bullets.

Marlin 1894 357 Magnum and Loads of Bacon

I got a package from Loads of Bacon of his world renown coated and bacon lubed bullets. Normally I load my medium velocity 357 Magnum rounds with HS-6. Just upon completing some 10MM testing with BE-86 and like the performance and velocity I was seeing with it I decided to use BE-86 in 357 Magnum.
