WCChapin | Strange Blue – Part Three…Cast Bullets in the 1891 Argentine Engineer Carbine

The first trip to the range with my 1891 Argentine Engineer Carbine with a pitted bore.
Shooting at 50 yards with starting rounds made from reformed 1950’s vintage .30-06 brass. I used powder coated NOE 314-162-FN PB cast bullets, 5:1 range scrap to wheel weight – water quenched then powder coated – sized .313″ and lubed with 50% Beeswax/50% Alox over 15.0 grains of Alliant 2400.

Strange blue, kill what’s inside of you.

You’re an Engineer’s Carbine with worn out blue,
The lands of your bore are pitted too…
It’s true…
Now what am I to do?
Strange blue, kill what’s inside of you.

Your stock is sticky with some kind of schmoo,
If you don’t clean up I’ll refinish you…
Rust blue….
What kind of Mauser are you?
Strange blue, kill what’s inside of you.
